K-POP NIGHT CAMPAIGN
OVERVIEW
K-Pop Night is an evening, dance event hosted by Sac State’s UNIQUE (entertainment department). For a night celebration of the Korean Pop genre and Korean culture, the UNIQUE team requested a campus-wide design campaign that K-Pop fans on campus will love.
CONCEPT
In this campaign, I captured the dreamy night aesthetic from the moodboards I’ve received from the clients by combining the cloud motifs and chrome/metallic lettering to showcase both the softness/dreaminess and boldness range of the K-Pop genre. Another element I took from the moodboards were bubbles, since both the genre and bubbles share the “pop” characteristic that also added to the dreamy landscape. Together, the elements float in a dreamy blue and purple sky with stars and the moon, twinkling for an unforgettable night.

AWARENESS
The campaign first reached students through large-format posters, social media graphics, and flyers. When students walked through campus to and from class, they were exposed to the A-Frame, marquee, and poster display cases. School and staff members involved in the marketing and planning of this event also pinned up and handed out flyers to students. Additionally, social media graphics, such as the Instagram story and feed reaches students to reinforce the campaign and reach more students who follow the university’s accounts.
experience
The “Tonight” poster is modified for display on the day of the event. The moon of the original design is enlarged and the date takes second in hierarchy to the word “Tonight”. During the event, attendees could participate in the photocard-decorating and bracelet-making stations, activities K-Pop fans often do to show their support of their favorite artists. Lastly, the media and staff passes are split into the pinks and purples of the campaign palette to differentiate the two roles.
Follow up
During the event, attendees can take a picture at the photo booth. The photo booth display has a tap-to-start animation that plays while it waits for interaction. Before taking a picture, attendees can chose to use a themed picture frame. Attendees can save their photos for memory-keeping.
